Metal Chip Briquetters

High Capacity - Self Regulating Metal Chip Briquette Press

  • Utilizes "Load Leveling" hydraulic concept - Maximizes productive work (capacity) for installed power
  • High efficiency hydraulic design; electronic displacement pump eliminates restrictive flow controls, hydraulic circuit designed to minimize pressure drops
  • Ultra filtration—four oversized high efficiency glass fiber filters to ensure reliable system performance
  • A feed conveyor (not shown) provides uninterrupted metered feed into the charge hopper
  • Opposing cylinder design - The preferred choice - Other briquette presses employ an often troublesome wedge type lifting door to provide back pressure for formation of the briquette. It must be raised to release each briquette—with resultant wear and frequent maintenance
  • Briquette stripping mechanism - Avoids jams and minimizes effects of tool wear
  • Heavy frame construction ensures cylinder and tooling alignment - Easy cylinder and machine service
  • Fines removal helicoid with patented self-cleaning, non-clogging drain integrated into effluent sump -Simple, clean, separation and recovery of settled fines and liquids
  • Uncomplicated quick tool replacement - Minimal labor for tool changes
  • Operator friendly color touch screen HMI - Full operational and diagnostic tools
  • Premium, high efficiency electric pump motors - Minimizes operating expense

Advantages of Briquetting

  • Briquettes command a premium price from scrap recyclers.
  • Reduced material handling and scrap transportation costs.
  • Removal and reclamation of cutting oils and cutting fluids.
  • Maximizes metal recovery in melting process

Operational Sequence

  • Metal chips or other material is metered into the charge hopper (1).
  • Charge cylinder (2) feeds material into pre-compression chamber (3).
  • Primary compression cylinder and plunger (4) advances, compressing feed material and expelling residual fluids while charge cylinder (2) retracts.
  • Compression phase continues at elevated pressure, resulting in formation of a solid briquette within a hardened sleeve (5), against opposing face of reaction cylinder (6).
  • Finished briquette is advanced by forward movement of primary compression cylinder (4). Reaction cylinder (6) simultaneously withdraws.
  • Briquette stripping mechanism (7) activates, tapping briquette, which falls by gravity into discharge chute (8).
  • Expelled fluids report to a collection sump fitted with a settled fines recovery helicoid (9).
  • Diaphragm pump (10) delivers fluid to user’s fluid recycling facility.
